Runners raise funds for old age home

Tour de Marathon, organised by Hillcrest siblings who have a soft spot for elderly people.

AVID and social runners put their best foot forward to raise funds for The Association for the Aged (Tafta) on Sunday, 25 October.

Tour de Marathon, organised by siblings Ronald and Shayna Smith, started and finished at the Fresh Stop Caltex Garage on Inanda Road, Hillcrest.

Ronald said it was their way of getting runners motivated again, given the current pandemic and how it has affected the race calendar, while raising funds for a good cause.

The siblings have a soft spot for elderly people which is the reason they have chosen Tafta as their chosen beneficiary

“We had a turnout of 31 registered runners for the half marathon distance – 21.1km as well as 11 people who participated in the shorter 5km and 10km distances,” said Ronald.

Shayna thanked everyone who donated cash prices and prices for the day.
