Visser, who is one of the finalists in the International Miss South Africa competition, has been tasked with completing some charity work to build her profile for the competition.

The former Miss KZN always goes the extra mile to extend a helping hand, from working at animal shelters and walking dogs to helping feed the little children at baby homes, Visser’s compassionate spirit is one that truly sets her apart.

The Grade 11 learner at Westville Girls’ High School currently works closely with Christine Hemming at the Once Upon A Time charity shop.

The shop, which is situated at 81 Stapleton Road in Pinetown, has 17 beneficiaries.

“Once Upon A Time is a non-profit organisation which relies on the public donating their unwanted items which gets sold. The money is split among the 17 beneficiaries,” she said.

The 16-year-old pleaded with the public to donate their unwanted goods to the shop.

“The shop is also short of volunteers, so if anyone has any spare time please help out.”

She is fabulous

Visser is also a Protea SA rock climber and in her spare time she models for Extreme Model Management.

“I am thankful to Adele Botes for the confidence I have acquired over the years under her guidance and supervision,” said Visser.

Her passion for the community has awarded her a spot in the top 10 for the She is Fabulous Woman’s Awards in the category – Community Builder.

“I would never have gotten this far if it was not for the help of the public, I appeal to everyone to support a good cause. If we all give a little it can go a long way,” she said.

Since it is kitten season, Visser said Once Upon A Time beneficiary, Kitty Care is desperate for funds that will help them to sterilise cats to stop the cycle.

“They are also in need for baby wet wipes, kitty food, soft toys, cotton wool, beds, blankets, shampoo, zip lock bags, litter, dewormers, Frontline spray F10 Products, wet and dry food and bowls.”

Other beneficiaries, Mazarat and Bark Angels have had lots of cats and dogs dumped on their doorstep as owners have lost their income, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and can no longer look after their pets.
