PHOTOS: Pinetown SAPS arrest three for alleged copper cable theft

The street value of the recovered copper cables is R100 000.

THE Pinetown Task Team arrested three men in KwaDabeka who were found stripping allegedly stolen copper cables, with a street value of R100 000. 

The task team received a tip-off regarding a group of men who were seen in possession of copper cables.

“Three suspects were found stripping copper cables. They were also found with spades, chains, pickaxes and other tools suspected to be used in the commission of the offence. The stolen cables were positively identified as the property of Telkom,” said KZN SAPS spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

The men, aged between 17 and 27 years old, were arrested for possession of stolen property. The suspects will appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.
