Parakeet saved from jaws of black mamba in Queensburgh

The reptile was caught in an aviary in Queensburgh.

THANKS to local snake catcher, Nick Evans, a parakeet can chirp for another day as he caught a black mamba trying to slither into its cage.

“A tricky rescue in Queensburgh, where this snake was trying to catch a parakeet in an aviary,” said Evans.

As he arrived at the home, the snake was attempting to squeeze through one of the gaps to escape.

“So I secured the pointy-end. It then got its body stuck, momentarily, in this tiny gap in the mesh but, after massaging the body through, it eventually slipped out,” he said.

He noted that no birds were harmed.
