WATCH: Find a treasure at Westville NPO’s store

From kitchenware to linen, toys and clothing, there is something for everyone at the Headway Natal charity shop.

IF you are wanting to find a bargain, dive into the treasure trove of goodies at Headway Natal’s charity shop which, under lockdown level 2’s relaxed restriction, is now open.

With the ease of restrictions, the non-profit organisation (NPO) that provides rehabilitation for brain injury and stroke survivors, their families and carers, was also able to re-open and offer one-on-one therapy sessions to its patients.

The shop is open each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.30am to 1pm at its Westville premises, 11 Menston Road.

“During lockdown, we had no income at all as we couldn’t provide therapy and our charity shop was closed. The shop is one of the organisation’s income earners and it had a huge impact on us financially. As a NPO, the shop is a way we generate most of our income,” said Headway Natal’s manager, Colleen Marais.

She said they have put in place strict protocols for its members to adhere to as the organisation provides a rehabilitation service. Members will need to complete a full screening process before entering the building while shoppers will need to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols such as sanitising their hands and wearing a face mask.

“All Covid-19 protocols are in place. People who come into the shop cannot enter the organisation itself. This is to avoid the possibility of cross contamination,” said Marais.

The items you can find in the shop range from second-hand books, linen and puzzles to kitchenware, glassware and children’s toys.

Prices range from R2 per item upwards. Contact the organisation on 031 266 2709.
