Hillcrest police seek assistance in Stockville murder case

It is alleged the deceased was assaulted and stabbed following an argument with the suspects.

HILLCREST detectives are appealing for information which could lead to the arrest of three suspects who are wanted for a murder which took place in the Stockville area (Gillitts) on Saturday, 29 August.

According to Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Capt Linzi Smith, a witness heard a noise outside and then noticed five unknown men crossing the road.

“Investigations revealed that an argument broke out between the man and the five suspects. The man ran to his friend’s house and returned with him to confront the suspects. They were both assaulted and stabbed,” said Smith.

“The man was lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to hospital but died on arrival, while his friend sustained injuries but was not hospitalised,” she said.

Two of the five suspects were arrested after receiving information from the community.

A case of murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm has been opened and is under investigation.
