Hillcrest vet gives bent-legged pooch all clear

Like a dog in a backyard, you're gonna dig this great news!

THE KZN Valley Dogs was given some good news for the darling pup, Poppy, renamed Bullet by her owner, during her visit to the Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital yesterday regarding her bent legs.

On Tuesday, 25 August, The KZN Valley Dogs posted a plea for its supporters to make a donation towards Poppy’s vet bills.

The adorable pup was taken to the Upper Highway vet to have her bent legs assessed. The NPO’s team said they didn’t think it would be a cheap fix.

“Dr Pieter Hanekom examined her, took x-rays and we were so happy to hear that no surgery or leg splinting would be needed. She’s still a young puppy with baby teeth. Good nutrition and a balanced puppy food diet, along with some gentle physiotherapy on her legs done by the owner, should ensure that her legs grow strong and straight,” said KZN Valley Dogs volunteer, Salome Meyer-Louwrens.

The puppy’s teenage owner said he was happy with the news but confided that he cannot afford “fancy puppy food”.

“We will assist, of course, but we would like to ask if anybody would like to sponsor Poppy (Bullet) with a bag or two of food,” said one of the organisation’s directors, Carolyn Pierrot.

“Thank you for everyone’s well wishes and donations into our vet account. We cannot do this without your help!”
