Pinetown water leak reports fall down the drain

A concerned resident said she started reporting the leak in December 2018, but two years have passed and the problem remains unresolved.

A LEAK which was reported in December 2018 continues to flow and has caused a small stream across the road.

A concerned resident, Andrea Graham said this has caused a trench on Flatcrown Road, Pinelands.

“This has resulted in a nightmare for the residents who use the road on daily basis,” she said.

Graham said she has been told by the eThekwini roads department that the water department is liable for it.

“I have sent many messages to the water department. The last one I sent on their WhatsApp group I was told that it has been closed off completed on the system.”

Recently, another resident attempted to cover the holes on the roads with stones.

“I have hit my tyres so many times, this is unsafe for motorists. We are always told we need to save water and report leaks but 20 months later, this leak has not been fixed and it continues to damage the road. So many litres of precious water have been wasted when there are people who are without water,” said Graham.

She appealed to the officials to fix it.

Attempts to obtain a comment from the municipality proved unsuccessful at the time of publication.
