Man gunned down in a hail of bullets in Pinetown

According to reports, the man was being followed by men in a silver grey Audi.

BEVISS Road in Pinetown has been cordoned off following a shooting that left one dead.

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the deceased was being followed by men driving a silver grey Audi.

“The men in the Audi started shooting at the man. He tried to drive off but they followed him. Three men got out off the Audi and shot at the man a couple of times,” he said. 

Manqele said the scene is still active and no one has been arrested as yet.

Pinetown resident, Andreas Mathios said the suspects had just fled the scene when he drove into Beviss Road.

“I called the police and they responded within a minute. The police are on scene and the motive of the shooting is unknown at the moment.”

Mathios advised motorists to avoid Beviss Road as it has been closed.
