Man (23) allegedly kills friend during argument in Wyebank

The suspect will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

A 23-YEAR-OLD man, who is alleged to have killed his friend, is set appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s court tomorrow.

It is alleged that on 20 June 2020 the man and his friend, Sphamandla Dlamini (24) were in Zamokuhle in Wyebank when an argument broke out between them.

“The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed his friend three times and fled the area. The victim sustained neck, chest and arm injuries and was taken to hospital for medical attention. He succumbed to his injuries,” said KZN SAPS spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

A case of murder was opened at the Pinetown Police Station.

Local SAPS launched a search for the man and, after a tip off yesterday that the alleged murderer returned to Wyebank, he was arrested.

This follows the incident where a 48-year-old man handed himself over to the police, after he allegedly fatally shot his 46-year-old friend.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the suspect handed himself over to the police on 18 July, hours after the murder.

It is believed the two men had an argument, before the suspect pulled out his licensed firearm and shot his friend three times, said Manqele.
