3 Hillcrest SAPS staff test positive for Covid-19

Hillcrest SAPS staff are currently working from a mobile station outside of the main building during the decontamination process.

THE Hillcrest Police Station has been closed due to three of its members testing positive for the coronavirus.

According to the Hillcrest Police Station’s communications officer, Captain Linzi Smith, the station will remain closed until Friday.

“The station is closed due to protocols of Covid-19 for decontamination. We are working from a mobile satellite bus right outside the station,” said Smith.

Smith noted that serious cases such as rape, murder, theft of a motor vehicle and theft of firearms can be opened at the satellite station.

“Affidavits can either wait till we open, or they can go to another police station that is open. Certification of documents can be done at the post office. Accident reports without injuries can be done online now,” said Smith.

The mobile station will continue to operate on a 24-hour basis.
