Support cat carers’ book sale in Westville

Support the ST Frances Carers of Abused and Abandoned Feral Cats' book sale in Westville on 27 June. The carers work tirelessly to provide food for 70 feral cats.

ST Frances Carers of Abused and Abandoned Feral Cats is having a fund-raising book sale on Saturday, 27 June from 9am to 3pm outside the Sorbet salon in the Westville Mall.

The carers are a group of dedicated women who mission out every morning to feed 70 cats.

It all began when Pauline Tribe and Rose Magic started feeding nine feral cats on the beachfront when they went for a walk and noticed the starving cats about 10 years ago.

They have fed the cats every day since, no matter the weather, from 4.30am to 7am before work.

They now feed 70 cats as people have dumped pregnant females and cats they don’t want and then these cats become their responsibility.

The women have managed to sterilise all the cats, except for two males which are scheduled to be neutered.

The carers’ group grew when Sherryl Bradfield, Linda Auld and Linda Phipson joined to help provide cat food and assist with the feeding.

Three years ago, the carers applied for and received their NPO number, 218-295, which allows them to fund-raise.

The cat food costs R10 500 a month and they also have to take care of the vet bills.

If you would like to help this group of dedicated carers to feed the cats, you can support the book sale and/or deposit a donation into their bank account: FNB savings account, account number 62664309921, branch code 250655.
