Robin Hood Foundation distributes tons of food to the needy

2020 has seen Robin Hood Foundation partnering and collaborating like never before, enabling outreaches from South Coast to North Coast, Midlands to Durban central.

THE Robin Hood Foundation (RHF) has distributed 147 tons of food in Durban and surrounds in two weeks.

Since the announcement of national lockdown, RHF has been working fervently, ramping up its community footprint by collaborating and partnering with other community organisations and NPOs to get as much aid and relief as possible directly into the hands of those that need it most.

Chair and founder of the foundation, Cindy Norcott, said in the 15 years they have been serving the communities, they have never before been faced with what the last nine weeks of 2020 has brought.

“We are in a time where we can easily be so overwhelmed by fear and anxiety but our focus at Robin Hood has been to keep on building our faith, building our gratitude, leading our people, creating solutions, spreading hope and helping others,” said Norcott.

May 2020 was the foundation’s 15 years anniversary, a year which has seen Robin Hood partnering and collaborating like never before, enabling outreaches from South Coast to North Coast, Midlands to Durban central and almost everywhere in-between, sparking a light of hope in dim and desperate circumstances.

“Thanks to phenomenal support to date, RHF has been able to reach out to various communities such as the KZN Valley Dogs, Zero 2 Five Trust, Khulisani, Christian Social Services, Open Door Crisis Centre as well as the below mentioned partners, and overseen nearly 200 tons of food and supplies mobilised into the community,” said Norcott.

“A whopping 147 tons of food alone in the last fortnight was distributed through a wonderful collaboration with concerned citizens into Durban and surrounding communities through community partners such as Hearts in Hands, Focus on Ithemba, Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, Sethani, 1000 Hills community helpers centre, Generation of Radicals, SENT, JUMP Youth Mission, Ithemba Lethu, Zoe life, Jabulani Charitable Trust, Gugu Dlamini Foundation, Wentworth Angels, BAFDT, Trinity Community Organisation, Ithemba Labantu, Umgeni Community Empowerment, Zimisele Foundation, The HOPE Foundation, Sibonga Imizamo, BAFDT, Wentworth Angels, Lungisani Indlela and Twinkle Star Foundation.”

Norcott added that at Robin Hood, they have seen on more than one occasion what can be done when people work together.

“This astounding community support is once again proof of just that. Our most heartfelt thanks to every single person, company, organisation and community partner for the kindness, support and completely selfless generosity at this time. This is truly the spirit of Ubuntu. Thank you,” concluded Norcott.
