The Westville resident has done many great walks and challenges but never like this in such a small space such as a garden.

Unfortunately, with the outbreak of Covid-19, walking on the road is not an option.

“With a decent sized garden, I took on the challenge to walk the 80km within the property,” said Jordyn.

He said his rugby coach from Westville Old Boys, Rob Scott, set a challenge for the team to attempt a 40km run or walk to raise money for Morne van Rensburg who needs R400 000 for a bone marrow transplant.

Morne’s brother, Ruan, is a 100 per cent match for the transplant and is a member of their rugby team.

“So with this challenge in mind, I woke up on Sunday, 26 April and in the rain, began my 80km journey.

“With the support of my family and social media sponsors, more support started rolling in. There was no going back. After a long 14 and a half hours in the rain I finally finished.

“It really motivated me when friends family and complete strangers donated money for this good cause especially during this Corona pandemic,” said Jordyn.

He said he would like to thank everyone who supported him with their encouragement and donations.

To donate money to this special cause, the following bank details can be used: Bank: ABSA, Branch: Westville (branch code: 140605), Account number: 4090184436, Account holder: JN van Rensburg.
