Covid-19: Namola – A safety response app that will come in handy during this lockdown

Namola encourages users to test the app, not only to see the incredible response time, but also to ensure that they are ready to use it in an emergency

Namola is a safety app that 400,000 South Africans use to keep their loved ones safe and connected, and get them and their family the best emergency assistance when they need it during this 21-day Lockdown.

Namola users can ensure that their loved ones are safe at all times by sharing locations and pressing the SOS button for themselves or on behalf of a loved one when they need help or it looks like a loved one is in trouble.

Users can sign up for free to receive important COVID-19 notifications, such as when the President addresses the nation, and the latest information and statistics.

Namola is a free download for Android and iPhone, and users can request assistance for free anywhere in South Africa from public emergency services, such as the South African Police Services (SAPS), Metro Police, Fire & Rescue, and Ambulance as well as Namola’s own wide network of community responders, Namola Watch.

Namola’s CEO, Peter Matthaei says: “Once activated, Namola allows users to share their GPS coordinates, name and nature of the emergency with a 24/7 response centre that can verify incident details and assist in the rapid deployment of the correct emergency responders. Namola emergency operators also follow up with the user during their emergency to make sure they’re OK and to reassure them throughout the entire process. The feedback from Namola users has been fantastic; our average incident handling rating is 4.8 out of 5 stars. By listening to our users and providing the best possible emergency response, Namola has grown to be the most downloaded safety app in the country.”

In addition to its free service, users can optionally upgrade to Namola Plus inside the Namola app for even more protection and peace-of-mind for themselves and their loved ones. Namola Plus gives users access to Private Armed Response and Private Emergency Medical Response in all major towns across South Africa.

In response to the 21-day lockdown in South Africa, Namola has discounted Namola Plus from R49 to R39 a month* for both new and current members to ensure that all South Africans have access to professional safety during this tumultuous time. New users even get their first month of Namola Plus completely free.

In the coming days, Namola is also rolling out a free app update with a COVID-19 resource centre inside the Namola app. This provides the latest infection statistics, both nationally and in the user’s province, along with a toolkit of important numbers and services during the lockdown, to help users cope and stay safe and healthy. Users can sign up for free to receive important COVID-19 notifications, such as when the President addresses the nation, and the latest information and statistics.
