St Mary’s DSG gears up for annual U16 hockey tourney

The games will be held at St Mary's DSG, Kloof, Thomas More College and Curro Hillcrest.

ST Mary’s DSG, Kloof is proud to again host the prestigious U16 Hockey Tournament, sponsored by Volvo Cars FMGH Hillcrest, from Friday, 20 March to Monday, 23 March.

The tournament, now in its seventh year, has become a popular and sought after fixture in many schools’ calendars. Although the competition is fierce, there is great camaraderie over the four-day tournament and fun is had by all.

Twenty-four teams from across the country, as well as Namibia, will play in three pools at three different venues (St Mary’s DSG Kloof, Thomas More College and Curro Hillcrest). The final playoffs will be eagerly contested at the St Mary’s campus on Monday, 23 March from 12.45pm.

Participating schools are: St Mary’s DSG, Kloof, St Mary’s DSG, Pretoria, Eunice High, CURRO Hillcrest, Reddam House uMhlanga, Die Hoërskool Menlopark, Hudson, Hoërskool Garsfontein, Affies, Hillcrest High School, Hoërskool Eldoraigne, Westville Girls’ High, Fatima, Durban Girls’ High, Bethlehem Voortrekker, St Paul’s College Namibia, Clarendon, Waterkloof, Oranje Meisies, The Wykeham Collegiate, Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High and Epworth.

“Join in on any of the days at venues in the Upper Highway area to see the talent that abounds in schoolgirl hockey in our country,” said the school’s marketing and communications administrator, Sarah Bartholomew.
