Beautiful Hillcrest verge rakes in award

The Gardens in Hillcrest was the recipient of the KHBA's summer verge award.

FOR its stunning beds of agapanthus and hydrangea, The Gardens recently received the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association’s (KHBA) summer verge award.

The non-profit organisation gives the bi-annual verge award to homes and complexes that take the time and trouble to beautify their verges.

The awards are made during the summer and again in winter.

“Though simple in design, it is beautiful and effective. Our thanks go to the enthusiastic gardener, Mthembiseni Mabaso. We are grateful to all those who beautify their verges in keeping with our ethos which is ‘beautifying our area for the benefit of all humans and creatures’,” said the association’s Marge Mitchell.

The KHBA thanked Carl Anderson of Richdens SPAR for the donation of a hamper for Mthembiseni and its committee members, Maggie Fleming and Barbara Fourie, who found the verge worthy of the award.
