BLUE Security reaction officers and Tactical Teams arrested two house breaking suspects in separate incidents in Kloof and Pinetown on Friday.
The security company’s tactical team, in collaboration with members of Pinetown SAPS, responded to an alarm activation in Jerome Drive in Kloof on Friday, 28 February.
“The chase began when one of our patrolling units saw the suspect jumping over a wall. A description of the man was circulated to other officers in the area. The bottom of Jerome Drive, near the M13, was blocked off,” said Blue Security’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
In the first incident, the man was cornered and arrested by Blue Security’s Tactical Team. He was taken to Pinetown SAPS, escorted by the SAPS detective branch.
In a separate incident in New Germany, in the early hours of Friday, a residential housebreaking suspect was spotted removing a plasma screen from a home by a Blue Security reaction officer.

“Our unit member was responding to an alarm activation just before 3am when he saw the suspect in the house,” Mathios said.
Backup was called and the home owner, who was not on the property at the time, was notified. The reaction officers entered and searched the property.
Mathios noted that two plasma screens had already been taken down from the wall and were ready for removal.
“The officers heard noises in the ceiling and, on further investigation, realised the suspect had escaped into the roof. One of the officers handcuffed the man and removed him from the ceiling,” said Mathios.
The man had gained entry to the home by removing the tiles from the roof. He was arrested and taken to Pinetown SAPS.
