Pinetown pupil shines in the Big Apple

Pinetown Boys' High School pupil Ndabenhle Zondi recently returned from an edifying trip to the US.

ONE of Pinetown Boys’ High School’s brightest stars, 15-year-old Ndabenhle Nkosi, recently returned from a journey of a lifetime.

Ndabenhle was one of 350 pupils from 100 countries chosen to take part in the Global Young Leaders Conference in the US last month. Ndabenhle was fortunate enough to visit two of the major cities in the US, the capital Washington DC and the city that never sleeps, New York City.

“It was wonderful to get to know the different cultures and people and this experience changed my view on politics and social issues in the world. Going to America, well that was just the cherry on the top,” said Ndabenhle.

He’ll keep in touch with the friends he made at the conference via social media and Skype.

His favourite subjects are business studies and English and hopes to one day study actuarial science and politics. “The feeling of dealing with issues that could have a positive effect on people’s lives is what drives me in this direction. I would like to thank my parents for funding this trip as I really appreciate what they did. It was a life-changing experience,” said Ndabenhle.
