Kitten saved from car bonnet in Kloof

The kitten was rushed to Village Road Vet and was found to be healthy.

SANDRA-LEE Jooste thought she was losing her mind when she suddenly started hearing the sounds of a cat coming from her car while driving her daughter to school in Kloof recently.

She was speaking to her mom via a bluetooth device at the time and assumed she was making the noises.

“I asked my mum and she said no and then I told her there’s a cat, I can hear it, but thought I must be going mad,”said Jooste.

When she got to her daughter’s school, she opened the bonnet and found the little fur ball between the bonnet and battery.

“This kitten had somehow made her way into my engine and had survived the trip on the freeway and up Field’s Hill. It’s beyond me how she managed to hold on,” she said.

The kitten was rushed to Village Road Vet.

“She was sexed and checked over. She is 100 per cent healthy. She had burnt the pads of her paws, but it’s already healed,” said Joote.

Jooste decided to keep her and named her Jazzy. “I drive a Honda Jazz and well considering how we met, I found it fitting.

“She has settled in so well. My one-year-old daughter Leia just adores her and so do I. In a time in my life where things have been so sad, this little angel was heaven sent and there’s no doubting that she really does have nine lives,” she added.
