Honours students stand out from the herd

VEGA School had its annual showcase which saw students exhibit their work for friends, family, potential clients and employers.

With the institution celebrating its 21st birthday this year, it has managed to carve out some of the the finest creative minds throughout the country.

The centre of the showcase theme was the maverick bull and there were 21 different designs of the bull and students were encouraged to stand out from the herd.

Two of the Honours students who showcased their work are Jamie Woolgar and Robyn Wheeler, both from Kloof.

Woolgar explained her concept as a strategist, “My logo had my name and my qualification on it with my catch phrase being a ‘strategist with a creative flair’ because I’m diverse in what I can offer a company. I know most companies prefer you to offer more than what you’re qualified in. Even though I’m a strategist by qualification, I can collaborate with other creatives.”

Woolgar received an award at the showcase.

Robyn Wheeler, who’s also an Honours strategist student, used her surname as a concept.

“My surname is Wheeler, so I decided to focus on the colour-wheel. So the circular shape represents my constant willingness to learn and develop myself. The different colours represent that I’m able to adapt my skills to different circumstances and to bring a creative and artistic flair to strategy – which is often seen as dull. However, strategy is what is behind all the pretty posters and campaigns,” explained Wheeler.
