Highway women give each other hope

The networking event is a chance for women in business to work together and  support local enterprises.

A MONTHLY Upper highway ladies networking event hosted at Makaranga is a great way for women in business to showcase their services.

The networking session was hosted by Teagan Sandstrom from Ithemba Recruitment and recently the ladies were joined by author, Wendy Richards who just launched her book, ‘Her Mother’s Betrayal’.

Sandstrom said the group has been in existence for over a year and has grown exponentially from a humble 15 women. “We are now hosting close to 50 business women.”

She identified that there was not enough opportunities in the Highway area to network with other businesswomen and, therefore, created an inexpensive monthly event that would be accessible to all ladies in business to work together and support local enterprises.

Author, Richards shared her emotional story of how she overcame a dysfunctional family, the nightmare of child abuse, loneliness and destructive relationships. She said with every book she sells, R50 is donated to the Open Door Crisis Centre.

“Richards is a testament to the power of visualisation and indomitable hope to conquer even the worst of circumstances. She proves that positive meaning can always be drawn from even the most soul-destroying experiences,” said Sandstrom.
