Help Hillcrest organisation pack backpacks of love

What better way to deliver love to children at Christmas time? 1 000 backpacks have been bought already, Nation Changers now need donors to provide the goodies to go inside.

EVERY year, Nation Changers, the charity arm of CityHill Church, distributes backpacks filled with treats, stationery, toiletries and a toy to children at crèche and primary schools in impoverished communities around Hillcrest.

“This year we’d like to give out 1 000 backpacks and appeal to you to contribute by buying the goodies on the list, or donating R250 per bag and we’ll buy the goodies on your behalf,” said Nadine Wright who heads up Nation Changers.

“Nation Changers has been able to purchase the 1 000 backpacks already, thanks to generous donors. Now we need you to provide the goodies to go inside.”

Wright said a Christmas party is held at each of the crèches and the two primary schools.

“Added to this great excitement, Father Christmas arrives and hands a backpack to each child. The delight this brings to the precious little ones is impossible to describe. For many, this is the only gift they will receive at Christmas. You can imagine how overjoyed they are. It’s also heartwarming to see the backpacks used all year, a gift to last the whole year,” said Wright.

Should you wish to buy the contents, drop them off at reception at CityHill Church on Inanda Road, Hillcrest during office hours. (Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4pm; Friday from 8am to 1pm.

Companies come on board each year taking this on as a staff project and Nation Changers can provide an 18A Tax Exemption Certificate on request.
