Support art fund-raiser for charities

The money raised will go to Siyajabula Children’s Home and Pinetown Highway Child and Family Welfare Society.

HIGHWAY artist, Michelle Scott, recently hosted an art exhibition fund-raiser for the Siyajabula Children’s Home and Pinetown Highway Child and Family Welfare Society.

The art exhibition launch on Friday, 4 October started on a high note as many people flocked in to support the charities and artists.

Scott said 23 paintings were sold on the night while three people made donations.

The studio, The Chattering Easel in Hillcrest, exhibited more than 100 paintings for the two charities.

“Grade 4 learners from Durban Preparatory High School also sent in paintings for this exhibition. All paintings are being sold for R1 000 each, and R500 will go to the charities, R350 is for the artists and R150 is for the preparation for the exhibition,” said Scott.

People have until the end of October to support this fund-raiser and Scott appeals to everyone to support it as they are hoping to make a large donation to the two charities.

The studio, in 40 Old Main Road, Hillcrest Centre is open on Monday and Tuesday from 9.30am to 9pm and Wednesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
