St Mary’s fund-raiser opens doors for future leaders

The event, hosted by the St Mary's Old Girls, raised funds so the St Mary's Foundation Trust can provide bursaries to underprivileged girls.

AN elegant evening of fine dining and fun was recently enjoyed by guests who attended the St Mary’s Foundation Trust fund-raiser at the Barker Manor in Kloof.

Sponsored by Whispering Waters, the dinner was hosted to make a difference by raising funds towards bursaries for deserving girls who could not be afforded the opportunity of world-class education at St Mary’s DSG.

In addition, 10 per cent of all the money raised was donated to the Inanda Soup Kitchen (Hope in Motion), which was established and is run by Robyn O’Donovan, a St Mary’s Old Girl.

Guests enjoyed bubbly and canapés, along with a sumptuous dinner and an array of desserts.

Vibrant entertainment by Don Seagreen kept the crowds returning to the dance floor and they were spoilt for choice with the fantastic items to bid on during the silent auctions and the surprise envelopes.

A huge thank you to the generous and so generously offered their skills to raise money.

Bianca Livesey, chairman of the St Mary’s Old Girls’ Guild, thanked the sponsors, past and present parents for the numerous prizes that were donated and the remarkable St Mary’s Old Girls who attended the event.

“Thank you for demonstrating that we, as a group of ordinary people, have the collective ability to do something extra-ordinary. To change the life of a young girl and give them the opportunity to education,” said Bianca.
