Waterfall couple celebrate 50 years of love

David and Judith Muzzle recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

WATERFALL’S David and Judith Muzzell were ecstatic to ring in 50 years of marriage on 29 August 2019.

The loving couple were married at the Church of Ascension in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

They both started their working lives as teachers in Bulawayo but Dave branched out into the sugar industry shortly after they were married and remained in the profession until he retired at 71 years old.

After a few years as a works chemist at the Rhodesia Sugar Refinery in Bulawayo, the sugar industry drew Dave and Judy to many interesting, and sometimes isolated, destinations in the Zimbabwean Lowveld, from South Africa and Swaziland to Zambia and Louisiana in the USA. Many great friends were made during their travels.

“Work and life were full of challenges, but the experiences were great,” said David.

Judy continued to teach intermittently in all countries, except for the USA, and will always be remembered for her production of outstanding plays in each of the primary schools she taught at.

Dave, on the other hand, busied himself with sport as a rugby coach and a good splattering of amateur dramatics.

They have two children, Trenton and Claire and four wonderful grandchildren.

The couple said the secret of their marriage rests in their positive and youthful outlook and is topped off with a sprinkling of humour.
