‘Jailed’ for a good cause

Forty-three participants occupied 24 kennels to raise funds for the Kloof SPCA clinic upgrade.

THE Kloof and Highway SPCA hosted another successful Dog Box Challenge where special supporters spent 24 hours locked in the kennels to raise funds for a much needed clinic upgrade.

The event started from noon on Friday, 31 May until noon on 1 June and 24 kennels were occupied by 43 participants.

Their time in the kennels was made special by their friends, family and the public who joined in on the fun with lucky draws, dressing-up kennels and a relaxed atmosphere.

“Our Village Green charity shops were open for our popular night market where people shopped, ate delicious food and were treated to the sounds of Parable Fifteen who rocked on in Marilyn’s Tea Garden,” said manager of the Kloof and Highway SPCA, Barbara Patrick.

“I would like to thank each and every participant that took part in our fund-raiser as well as everyone who donated towards their ‘bail money’ before and during their 24-hour stay in our kennels.

“Without support from our community we would be unable to continue the important work of preventing cruelty to animals and everyone involved made sure that we were able to raise much needed funds for our SPCA,” said Patrick.

She added that they are still busy tallying up the amount raised as transfers are still being made and anyone who would like to donate towards the clinic upgrade can contact the SPCA on 031 764 1212.
