Help Husky Rescue KZN find permanent home

Currently there are two ways that the public can support Husky Rescue KZN, one through food and cash donations and their debit order system.

ABOUT 50 huskies are about to become homeless as the owners of the their home, Husky Rescue KZN in Cato Ridge, have two months to vacate.

Husky Rescue KZN has been in Cato Ridge at a rented space for six years now and recently learned that they have to find new premises since the property has been sold and the new owners will move in this June.

“We would, however, like to reassure everyone that it is not our intention to shut Husky Rescue KZN. We will continue to re-home our huskies following our normal procedure of completing an adoption application form, home check and adoption fees. We are not giving our dogs away for free,” said founder of Husky Rescue KZN, Charnell Ruth.

According to Ruth not every space suggested by the public is always ideal. “We have about 50 dogs so a semi rural area would work where our neighbours are not too close,” she said.

The organisation is not in a position to buy property at this point, but can only rent.

Currently there are two ways that the public can support Husky Rescue KZN, one through food and cash donations and their debit order system.

“At this point we need R2 400 a month cover all costs,” she added.

Husky Rescue is open from 7.30am until 10am every second Sunday for people to come through and walk the huskies and spend time with them.

The ECR Big Walk is another opportunity for people to contribute to this great course.

“Folk who register for the Big Walk can dedicate their walk to Husky Rescue KZN by asking their friends and family to make a donation towards their walk for HRKZN. We will set up a donation through a legitimate and well recognised South African crowd funding platform called Back a Buddy,” said Ruth.
