Rains destroy Gillitts church foundation

Pastor of Ajalon Church is appealing for funds to restore the foundation which was destroyed by recent rains.

THE recent floods have affected the foundation of a Gillitts church which caters mostly for pensioners.

Ajalon Church has been in existence for 50 years and the floods have resulted in sand being washed into the adjacent buildings.

Pastor Joseph Chengiah appealed for any assistance to help them restore the foundation as they are scared that something worse might happen if heavy rains return.

“We serve a very impoverished community who cannot afford to help us raise funds. Many are pensioners who support their families with their grant money.”

Pastor Joseph said the church is dedicated to working within the community including educating and motivating young people and teaching positive life skills.

“From time to time we get sponsors and provide senior citizens with food parcels,  clothing and counselling for those who need it. Anyone who would like to assist the church can contact Pastor Joseph on 082 312 1816.
