Crime briefs: Decomposed body found in Hillcrest

The body was found last year November by people who were patrolling the area.

HILLCREST SAPS are looking for relatives of a man whose body was found at Jackson’s Sugarlane Farm.

The body of a Black man was found on 25 November by people who were patrolling the area.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Capt Linzi Smith, said the body was badly decomposed, but his clothes: a black jacket, brown jersey and black trousers, were still identifiable,

“The black leather jacket was found next to him,” said Smith.

An inquest docket was opened and Hillcrest detective and Cst Kleinbooi asks for any person who has information or knows of relatives looking for a missing person to contact her on 031 765 9132 /078 259 5201.

 

 

Police seek relatives

PINETOWN police are looking for the relatives of a man that was found dead at Valview Road, Ekuthuleni in Wyebank on Thursday, 21 February. He is estimated to be about 67 years of age and was identified as Mr Ngcobo by his friend. His friend also told the police that he once said his family lives in Botha’s Hill. Anyone with information must contact Sgt Mariette Smith on 083 617 2377/ 08600 10111.

 

Do not tamper with evidence
Hillcrest Police is pleading to the community that when any serious crime has taken place, including housebreakings, to please try and preserve any evidence that can be used to link and trace the suspects involved.
“We use role-players from forensics, fingerprints and a photographer and they are arriving at crime scenes where community members are interfering with evidence which then cannot be used,” said Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Capt Linzi Smith.
She advised that tampering with evidence amounts to a criminal offence and people can be charged for defeating the ends of justice.
