#Mampintsha arrested in Westville and remains in custody

Babes Wodumo's family held a press briefing today and reported that she is receiving medical attention.

UPDATE: Maphumulo has been granted bail of R2 000 at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.

He has also laid a counter-charge of assault against Simelane.

 

AFTER an Instagram video of Mampintsha (Mandla Maphumulo) allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Babes Wodumo (Bongekile Simelane) went viral on social media, the musician and producer was arrested.

The video garnered national outrage with many South Africans calling for him to be arrested.

Police commissioner, General Khehla Sitole gave police three hours to find and apprehend Maphumulo during a press briefing this morning.

According to KZN SAPS, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo, Mampintsha was arrested today in Westville.

“We are hoping that he will appear in court today,” he said.

Simelane laid assault charges at the Westville Police Station yesterday.

According to People Opposing Women’s Abuse (POWA) an average of 360 incidents of physical and sexual abuse against women take place in South Africa daily. This means that a woman is physically abused every four minutes.
