Man dies, 9 injured, in serious Shongweni accident
Police will be investigating what led to the accident which left one man dead and nine others injured on Tuesday morning in Shongweni.
ONE man has died and nine others have been injured in a serious accident on Old Richmond Road, near the mushroom farm in the Shongweni area, earlier today (26 February).
Rescue Care’s spokesman, Garrith Jamieson said emergency services were called to the scene just after 7.30am and arrived to find two vehicles had been involved in the accident. According to Jamieson, a bakkie with a trailer collided with a truck before overturning.
“Multiple casualties were found on scene and more ambulances were immediately dispatched to assist,” said Jamieson.
“A man in his 20s was declared dead from his injuries on the scene. Nine more patients, who were injured, were treated on the scene before being transported to hospitals. They sustained various injuries ranging from minor to serious,” he said.
“At this stage the events leading up to the occurrence are unknown, however, SAPS are in attendance and will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.
