Kloof car club revs up R15 000 for charities

The The Veteran Car Club of South Africa has raised R40 000 in the last four years for charities.

A HUMAN rights organisation committed to helping sexually abused children was one of the two organisations that were the lucky beneficiaries of a monetary donation.

Bobbi Bear received a cheque of R10 000 and the SA Legion, The South African Legion of Military Veterans, were given R5 000 at the Veteran Car Club’s first meeting of the year.

The theme for the day was for members to wear the colours that matched their cars.

The money was raised by members of The Veteran Car Club of South Africa in Kloof during the past year.

Chairman, Peter Hall, said every month during the club’s meeting a charity pot is passed around and, in the past four years, an amount of R40 000 has been raised and donated to various charities.

Eureka Olivier from Bobbi Bear was touched by the generous donation, “I did not expect this much,” she said.

Although the organisation is based in Amanzimtoti, Eureka said they do lots of work in the greater Durban and Highway area.

“Currently we have six children in our home who are siblings. They were found at a dumpsite, almost dead. The children we take into our care have been through hell as many of them have been witnesses of tragic scenes such as murder,” she said.

The organisation is self-sustained and depends on donations.
