Werda donates stationery to Malvern home

Malvern children's home director, Andile Ncamana, said the home has a good relationship with the school and appreciates all it and the staff do to assist them to help the children they care

WERDA School management’s annual fund-raising is being used to donate stationery, with the help of a local business, to a children’s home.

“The staff gets involved in a charity project this time every year,” explained principal Norman van Rooyen.

“This year we chose to support Malvern Children’s Home because we heard about their wish-list.”

Werda also has some learners attending their school who live at the home.

The stationery, which was bought with money collected by the staff, was discounted by Bargain Basket in Pinetown and will be divided among 90 learners at the home.

“Bargain Basket Pinetown heard about our project and offered us the stationery at a discounted price,” said Van Rooyen who added that the business also has decided to sponsor all the stationery of two of the learners from the home who attend Werda school.

The items were delivered to the home on Thursday morning, much to the delight of Lindiwe Mthuyane, a new general worker at the home who will distribute the items to the children. “They will be so happy to receive this,” said Mthiyane.

Malvern children’s home director, Andile Ncamana, said the home has a good relationship with the school and appreciates all it and the staff do to assist them to help the children they care for.
