Le Clos Foundation to develop SA’s swimmers

The newly launched Chad Le Clos Foundation and the popular aQuelle Midmar Mile have partnered to raise funds.

WESTVILLE Old Boy and Olympic gold medallist, Chad Le Clos, launched the Chad Le Clos Foundation last week to advance and develop swimming in South Africa.

Le Clos said he sought to build a future around his global success that will benefit others, and the sport in general.

To this end, the Olympian has partnered his organisation with the aQuelle Midmar Mile, the world’s biggest open water swimming event, to raise funds to advance the development of swimming within the country.

“I am extremely excited to announce the launch of my Foundation with Midmar Mile as both have such a major role to play in our sport,” said Le Clos.

Julian Taylor, the CEO of the Foundation, and former category winner at the Midmar Mile, endorsed Le Clos’ suitability for the project.

“His passion is swimming but specifically young kids, he is a role model and hands-on inspiration. Now he is raising funds to ensure that he keeps the kids swimming.”

More details on the Foundation, fund-raising opportunities and its programmes will be released in the buildup to the aQuelle Midmar Mile, held on 9 and 10 February 2019.
