Westville cop awarded for going the extra mile

When he received the award from the CPF Chairman, Alex Gloster, Cnst Sandile Msane expressed how grateful he was for the award and the recognition he has received from the community.

WESTVILLE SAPS police officer, Cnst Sandile Msane, was named police official of the year by the Westville CPF.

He excels in every facet of his duties and recently arrested house robbers fleeing a scene where an elderly resident was held up and assaulted. He also assists motorists stuck on the side of the road as he has mechanical knowledge and skills.

In September this year Cnst Msane along with a colleague, Cnst Happy Mazibuko went over and above their call of duty when they noticed a motorist who needed help on the N3.

Msane and Mazibuko were patrolling the freeway when they spotteda car which broken down at the EB Cloete interchange. Msane found that a petrol pipe was leaking and fixed it.

When he received the award from the CPF Chairman, Alex Gloster, Msane expressed how grateful he was for the award and the recognition he has received from the community.

“Msane is a family man and dedicates all his time to his family when not on duty, and enjoys being with his two boys ages one and four years. Msane said behind every successful man is a women and gives thanks and appreciation to his wife, Wendy,” said Westville SAPS communications officer, Cpt Elizabeth Squires.

The award, a floating trophy, was donated three years ago by a local resident Peter Kupferman. The recipient of the trophy each year also receives a custom-made knife from Kupferman.

“Cnst Sandile Msane received eight commendation letters from members of the public last year. He excelled in every facet of his duties including arresting house robbers fleeing a scene where elderly residents had been held up and assaulted, being a mechanic on the side of the road to stranded motorists and more.

“By all reports he is a most pleasant person to attend to your needs. He is well liked by colleagues and superiors,” said Wesville CPFs, Wyane Le Roux.
