Young model sets her sight on KZN title

Zama Kuzwayo from Nagina will be competing in Miss KZN Top Model SA on Sunday, 2 December.

AT the tender age of eight, Zama Kuzwayo adopted the mindset that participating in beauty pageants is not about having a pretty face only, but is about helping others through charity work which is a big part of the modelling industry.

Zama only started her modelling career early this year, but has already made a name for herself as she is a finalist for Miss KZN Top Model SA.

She won the first pageant she took part in; Miss Mariann Park Primary School where she is a Grade 3 learner.

Modelling provides her with an opportunity to meet children, people and make friends, which she loves.

“It has taught me to be more confident and I enjoy doing charity work,” she said.

During her free time, she volunteers at Eden Children’s Home in Mariannhill.

As part of being a finalist, Zama needs to find sponsors and the money raised will be given to a charity of her choice, which is the Eden Children’s Home.

The community can also help her win the Public Choice Award by visiting Miss KZN Top Model SA page on Facebook and like Zama’s photo.

Sponsors can contact the founder of the pageant Zakhele Khumalo on 079 503 4494.

The pageant will be held on Sunday, 2 December at Cafe La Plage in Umhlanga.

Tickets are available from R200 and can be purchased from Zama’s mom, Philisiwe by contacting her on 079 3704 339.
