Visit Malvern children's home to help it celebrate 55 years of helping children feel safer.

EVER wondered about the work done at The Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre?

Keen to get involved and make a difference?

The home will be hosting its annual Open Day on Saturday, 24 November.

This year, the children’s home is celebrating a 55-year milestone of caring for orphaned and vulnerable children between the ages of two to 18-years.

Through its development programmes, the staff are committed to helping children reach their full potential by providing a loving home environment, three meals a day and access to education, therapeutic and spiritual support.

“Having our doors open to help these children the past 55-years would not have been possible without the support of our community. Being a supporter comes in many forms: financial donors, in-kind gift donors, volunteers who give of their time to teach the children a skill, corporate partners and of course, our staff. The success of our home, past, present, and future. could not and would not be possible without this valued support,” said Lee Jarrett, PR and fund-raising manager.

Jarrett added that this is not only a milestone anniversary celebration but also a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and thank the community for their support.

“Our children have planned a fantastic entertainment line-up they are very excited about, so please come along and support them,” she said.

The Open Day programme includes an overview of 2018’s success stories and areas of need moving into 2019.

After the presentation, you can join the staff for tea and cake and a tour of the home and its facilities. There is also luxury seven-night vacation being raffled on the day, thanks to First Group.

“With Christmas around the corner, we would also appreciate any donation of lightly worn boys and girls clothing, toiletries such as soap, shampoo and toothpaste or dry groceries to tie us over the festive season. These can be brought along to the Open Day or dropped off during our office hours,” said Jarrett.

The Open Day kicks off at 11 am with the children’s choir and talent show and ends at 12.30 pm with the home tour. The Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre is situated at 11 Coniston Lane in Malvern.
