Teenage girl allegedly raped near Mariannhill Toll Plaza

The two men allegedly gave the girl a lift and when they got to Mariannhill Plaza, they took her out, blindfolded her and dragged her to a nearby bush where they repeatedly raped her.

A TRIP from the Eastern Cape turned into a nightmare for a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by two men near the Mariannhill Toll Plaza last night, Monday, 1 October.

Although it is still not clear where the girl was heading or where the two men picked her up, Andreas Mathios from Blue Security said, according to the victim, she was given a lift by the two men who were in a black Polo.

“We were told that the incident happened at about 6pm. The two men allegedly stopped near the Mariannhill Toll Plaza where they forced her into a nearby bush and raped her. They blindfolded her, tied her hands and threatened her that they were coming back,” explained Mathios.

Mathios said the girl allegedly spent the night in the bushes and when the sun came out, she walked and saw a garage where she told the petrol attendants what had happened.

“That is when Blue Security responded and Pinetown SAPS picked up the girl,” added Mathios.

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said the victim was taken to Thuthuzela Care Centre where she is being counselled.

“We are waiting for social workers so that we can get the full information and then open a case,” he said.
