Annual cricket tourney kicks off

Make your way to Kearsney College this weekend to support your local teams compete in the Kingsmead Mynahs U11 T20 cricket festival.

THE annual Kingsmead Mynahs U11 T20 cricket festival takes place at Kearsney College from 28 to 30 September.

Starting on Friday, 18 primary school teams from across the country, including two sponsored sides from the KZN Cricket Union’s development programme and one from the Western Cape, will participate.

Teams include the Highbury Hurricanes, Hillcrest Hotshots, Thomas More Titans, Winston Park Pythons, Curro HCA Pinch Hitters, Kloof Cobras, Atholl All Stars, Westville Warriors, St Charles Strikers, Pelham Panthers, Northlanders, Chelsea Lions, Crawford Cyclones, Ashton Aces and Umhlali Dolphins, as well as the Cricket Union’s Sunfoil Tigers and RPC Mambas and the SWCC Impi from Somerset West.

Promising three days of exciting school cricket action, the tournament runs from Friday through to Sunday and starts at 8.30am. Each team will play two 20-over games daily over the three days. The main sponsor of the event is Durban-based T-Shirt Manufacturers.

Refreshments from the Kearsney coffee shop and ample secure parking will be available.
