Kearsney nets another polo win

The 1st waterpolo team were ecstatic to add another win to their season roster.

KEARSNEY’S 1st water polo team sought to continue their recent good form when they took on Hilton at the weekend. The team’s effort paid off and ensured an eventual win of 10 – 6.

Kearsney started with their pressure defence and were soon reaping the rewards with a number of counter attacks. Josh Muller scored a brace in the first chukka which ended 3 – 1 to Kearsney.

Hilton fought back in the second chukka as Kearsney gave away easy exclusions. Only dogged team defence and some exceptional saving by Tyler Roake kept Hilton at bay as they only scored two of their five extra man chances. Tyson Andrews completed a brace and Muller his hat trick, to keep the chukka evens and Kearsney at 5 – 3.

The third chukka was a tight affair as both sides felt the exertion of the first half. Kearsney made some unforced errors and Hilton, by contrast, showed good composure to bring it back to 6-5.

With the pressure on in the 4th chukka, Kearsney moved into upped a gear and, although a little fortunate at times, four different players scored – including Andrews completing his hat-trick – to Hilton’s 1.
