Sharmla follows her childhood dream

Gillitts wife and mom, Sharmla Douglas is the new Mrs Shakti Beats Beauty Goddess- KZN.

BEING a model and entering beauty pageants has always been a dream for newly crowned Mrs Shakti Beats Beauty Goddess – KZN, Sharmla Douglas.

However, getting married at a young age put that dream on hold for a while, but she later signed with a modelling agency and was ecstatic to be invited to take part in this pageant.

Her supportive husband, Omar, said winning this pageant just confirmed to her what we all believed: that she has inner and outer beauty.

“She is a very compassionate and caring person. We were all so proud of her,” he said.

The Gillitts couple have two children, a 24-year-old son and a 19-year-old daughter.

Sharmla is also a businesswoman and does volunteer work and fund-raising for Open Door Crisis Centre in Pinetown.

She said the Shakti Beats Brand has provided services to the communities within KZN and Gauteng over the years through brand ambassadors who have been selfless in their plight of promoting arts and culture within the community sustaining the rich cultural heritage.

“The Shakti Beats brand provides a platform to promote, nurture and develop brand ambassadors to be role models within the community,” Sharmla said.
