Raise your cup for ‘dignitea’

Bookings are now open for the Subz Spring Fling High Tea fund-raiser where you can hear all about ocean conservation from marine scientist, Pam Le Noury.

SHAKE off the winter chill and start afresh with the first-ever Subz Spring Fling High Tea fund-raiser for Project Dignity at the Kloof Country Club on Wednesday, 5 September.

“This is going to be a fun and glamorous morning, celebrating Women’s Month while raising funds for packs of Subz Pants and Pads. The distribution of these reusable pads will empower South African schoolgirls, freeing them from the economic burden of buying sanitary pads monthly, or missing school because they can’t afford them,” said the organisation’s founder, Sue Barnes.

Barnes established Subz Pants and Pads as an economically and environmentally preferable option to disposable sanitary pads. She was prompted to research reusable sanitary pads when she learnt that the education of thousands of South African schoolgirls was interrupted monthly because of a lack of access to sanitary wear.

Marine scientist, PADI dive instructor, zodiac skipper, sailor and committed ocean conservationist, Pam Le Noury, will captivate guests at the high tea with her talk, Ocean Conservation.

“I’m excited to have this opportunity to work with Subz and create awareness about the importance of sustainable options. The work Subz is doing really resonates with me – they’re directly addressing the issue of managing waste creation,” explained Pam.

“I’m going to discuss the key issues of ocean conservation and what individuals can do in their everyday lives to help. We’ll touch on topics such as avoiding single-use straws and other plastics, as well as sustainable seafood options.”

The tickets to the Subz Spring Fling High Tea are R275 per person.

To book, e-mail brenda@subzpads by Friday, 31 August.

Guests are also encouraged to donate a pack of girls panties (ages 13 to 14 and up).
