Captain Ross’ boasts top order cricketing skills

Ross Coetzee is Highbury Preparatory School’s SPAR Star of the Month.

GRADE 6 learner, Ross Coetzee is Highbury Preparatory School’s SPAR Star this month.

Ross is captain of the South African U13A Indoor Cricket team and he will travel to New Zealand in September this year to compete in the Indoor Cricket World Cup against teams from Australia, New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka.

Ross has played cricket from a very young age and has always loved it. He loves all formats of the game and his cricketing heroes are AB de Villiers and Kagiso Rabada.

Ross has been fortunate as he has represented KZN in cricket through the age groups and has consistently tried his best over a whole year of trials for selection into the touring U13A Indoor Cricket team.

In July last year, a squad of 40 was selected and after five trips to Johannesburg and many hours of hard work, Ross was chosen for the final team.

He is a batting all-rounder and the team’s wicket keeper and is especially excited because his long-time friend, Hayden Bishop, will be his batting partner at the World Cup in New Zealand.

“Good luck, Ross, we wish you all the best,” said Highbury marketing assistant, Jacqui Maurice.
