Support for Keta pours in
Keta needs help to see a specialist in Italy to assist her with her auto-immune disease, scleroderma.
A FUND-RAISER for Keta Wright, a young lady, who is suffering from Liniar Scleroderma, a very rare auto immune disease turned out to be an amazing day of rugby and the support from the community was incredible.
Land Rover Durban – Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club hosted PMB Collegians at Kearsney College in their penultimate KZNRU First Division League fixture on Saturday afternoon.
The “Old School” Villagers invitational side hosted a charity match to raise funds for Keta. Their opposition was Amanzintoti RC’s social side, who showed their support for the great initiative.
Toti led the first half, at which point the Villagers side were stung into action and responded with a great passing move that ended in a try by Bruce Gregg-Macdonald converted by Cliffton Bridge.

At half time the score was poised at 7-7 and all to play for. The second half was a real tustle, and skipper Brian Lewis led from the front and scored two unanswered tries with Bridge converting one, to see the Old Boys run out 19-7 winners.
Men of the match went to Neil du Plessis (forwards) and Adrian Papenfus (backs). Villagers 1st XV were once again in stunning form, and after a scrappy start, the side kicked overdrive.
PMB Collegians did what they could to try and stem the relentless waves of attack from the upper Highway outfit.

Still with a number of key players recovering from injury, the Hillcrest lads were in fine form. At the blow of final whistle, the score was 66-7 to Villagers. Men of the match went to Trevor Mvundura (Forwards) and Dan Mulder (Backline).
“Thanks must go to Travis Duggan and Brian Lewis, without whom the charity initiative would not have happened,” said Danielle Audibert from Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club.
Upcoming fixtures:
Villagers 1st and 2nd XV next play UKZN on Friday, 27 July@ the Durban Shongweni Club, with match night getting under way from 7pm. Villagers 3rdXV are away to Oqwini Bafana on Thursday, 12 July at 7.30pm.

Family friend, Bonnie Hayman de Beer, will host an elegant fund-raiser dinner at Butlers in Hillcrest on Thursday, 28 September from 6.30pm. The cost is R500 per person or R5 000 per table of 10.This includes a three-course dinner and live entertainment.
