Fund-raiser for Keta kicks off

Take part in a fund-raiser that could change Keta’s life for the better.

HELPING others is a phrase that has quickly become synonymous with the Land Rover Durban – Hillcrest Villagers’ Rugby Club.

This year the team will kick off some exciting games to raise funds for the courageous Keta-Lea Wright on Saturday, 7 July. Each year the Old Boys’ team, the Old School Villagers’ XV, raise money for a local child or family in the Highway area.

“The thought behind this is the community kept their club open and now that they can and want to help the community by raising funds for a local child,” said the club’s René Missen.

In 2017, the team raised funds for little Jaxon and this year they have chosen Keta.

“Our rugby helps this Old Boys’ team raise money by creating a charity day where our teams play a normal league game,” said René.

The event will be hosted at Kearsney College on Saturday from 12.30pm. There will be food stalls and children will have the opportunity to snap a selfie with Sharkie.

The 3rd XV exhibition game will start at 12.30pm, the 2nd XV will take on PMB Collegians at 2pm and the 1st XV will play against the PMB Collegians from 3.30pm.
