What’s so special about your dad?

The Highway Mail went to the streets and spoke to children about Father's Day and what they love about their dads.

FATHER’S Day is celebrated worldwide to recognise the contribution that fathers and father figures make to the lives of their children. This year, Father’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, 17 June. Most children see their dads as their heroes as they protect and guide them. The Highway Mail spoke to some children who shared what was special about their dads.

Amber Naude (7) – I love his kindness. My dad is responsible and is loving.

Yerusha Govender (8) – My dad is fun. He always encourages us to do our best in school and encourages us to sing a lot.

Siyabonga Malatjie (11) – I love my dad because he is an athlete and he takes part in the Comrades Marathon. He cooks for us and he never gives up.

Carson Marais (6) – He is helpful, he is my hero and my best friend. I love my dad to the moon and back.

Owethu Maphumulo (10) – My dad is fun, kind and playful. I love him because he takes good care of me and buys me nice things.

Vittal Govender (7) – I love my dad because he always takes me to fun places and he swims the Midmar Mile and always brings back medals. He also takes me to uShaka Marine World.
