Investigations revealed that there was no forced entry.

“A case of house robbery and murder has been registered and is being investigated,” added Marimuthu.

Anyone with information in this regard can call Malvern SAPS detectives on 031 4899624/4899629 or Crime stop on 0860010111.

“Senior citizens living alone are cautioned against letting people onto the property. If work has to be done on the property rather let this be done on days when family members are around. Vagrants, beggars and other people wanting access on the property should not be allowed. This will limit the risk of lives being threatened and properties targeted,” she said.

Lt-Col Valarine Reddy reiterated that seniors must be wary of who they allow on the property and visits should be done when family is around.
