BREAKING NEWS: Three armed men rob store at Westville Mall [LISTEN]
It is believed that one of the robbers was arrested on the M13.
REPORTSÂ have just come in about an armed robbery at Westville Mall, about 20 minutes ago.
Andreas Mathios, Blue Security Marketing and Community Liaison, said he received a panic alert from a woman on the neighbourhood watch network, informing them of an armed robbery in progress and requesting urgent assistance.

“I immediately forwarded the alert to the SAPS network, who sent out their team as well as alerted other emergency services, paramedics etc,” said the Mathios.

It is believed a member of the public who witnessed what was happening, pulled out his firearm and opened fire on the robbers who returned fire.
“The armed robbers fled the scene in a minibus towards the M13 Durban bound. Metro Police and SAPS pursued the robbers and due to the quick networking by the neighbourhood network, law enforcement was able to arrest one of the robbers on the M13,” he added.
Highway Mail could not get through to centre management at the shopping mall for comment at this time.
However, an employee at Westville Mall confirmed that a jewellery store was targeted.
