Fabulous reads – Gripping YA will leave you on edge

Book review - Contagion by Teri Terry.

Contagion, Teri Terry, Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781408341728

KAI has never given up hope of finding Callie, his little sister who went missing without a trace almost one year ago.

Then Shay calls to say she saw Callie the day she disappeared.

The novel is set in the beautiful and rainy Scotland, where Shay and Kai start their own search with the new information no one else seems to care about.

But something is happening in Aberdeen, a sickness is spreading and people are dying with no apparent cause.

When Shay and Kai delve deeper and deeper into Callie’s whereabouts, they start to make connections between the missing Callie and the mysterious sickness.

More and more people are dying and as Shay deals with her own personal tragedies, Callie appears to her to tell her why.

Shay is the only one who can see her and as their questions are answered by the ghost of Callie, she urges Shay to solve it quickly before time runs out.

Shay learns it isn’t a sickness but a disease that was created.

It is both a brilliant and surprising read from the lesser-known Teri Terry.

Definitely a young adult book but it is filled with so much action and adventure that all sci-fi fans will enjoy it.

Beware, there is a cliff-hanger at the end.

The good news is that the second book, Deception, was recently released so fans won’t have to wait too long for the continuation of the story.
